Love it! It's my choice of place for IB. They greet me! They smile at me. They joke and interact w/everyone. Variety of people, characters, personalities. Diverse in clientele. W/people of color and non. The billiards are sweet!

We had a drink here yesterday and it was nice and casual....a very laid back atmosphere. It was exactly what we were hoping for when we walked in. The bouncer was polite and friendly and the bartender was helpful. We ordered a couple of beers and went out onto their outdoor patio to enjoy the scenery. Nice place!

Great. History in this place. More authentic feeling than more famous pubs on maybe Coronado Island. Drinks good. Food good. Plus two quarter pool tables and an outside deck.

Great location! Steps away from the beach! This bar has 2 pool tables, great prices, and lots of outdoor seating. I came here with a couple of friends while we were in town for the USTA national championships. We went to the beach here and grabbed some drinks. The bartender was very nice. We signed a $1 bill and put it up above the bar with the hundreds of others. We had our drinks outside. It was a gorgeous day. Some people had their dogs and we were able to visit with them. It’s a super casual, laid back place to hang out with friends.

Ye Olde Plank Inn is one of my favorite spots in Imperial Beach! The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff is friendly, and the food and drinks never disappoint. Whether you’re stopping by for a meal, watching a game, or just spending time with friends and family, it’s always a great experience. The service is consistently excellent, and you can tell they truly care about their customers. If you’re looking for a local place with great vibes, good food, and a strong sense of community, I highly recommend Ye Olde Plank Inn.

Looking for a locals vibe on the beach? You can find it at Ye Olde Plank Inn! This place has personality and is clearly beloved by its many regulars who filled in all the barstools on a lazy Sunday evening. Peeps in larger groups stepped out on the patio to enjoy the salty sea air and afternoon breeze. This place is amazing and possibly my new favorite bar.

Known to a lot of locals simply as “The Plank,” this has long had the reputation of being a classic dive and biker-style bar near the north end of Imperial Beach. The exterior has changed a little over the years, but inside it still feels very much like the same place people have been going to for decades. As the author of The Grant Colson Thriller Series and someone who has spent decades around Imperial Beach since my parents moved my brother and me to the area in the early 1980s, Ye Olde Plank Inn is one of those classic local establishments that has been part of the community forever. The place almost always has energy and is rarely empty. There is usually someone checking IDs at the entrance, and one of the funniest details is the sign warning that if you look under “250 years old” you should be prepared to show ID. It fits the personality of the place perfectly. The atmosphere is unapologetically old-school Imperial Beach, and honestly that is part of why people continue coming back. It adds character and history to the beachfront area rather than feeling overly polished or corporate. After spending years writing thrillers and traveling through places with strong local identity, I have really come to appreciate establishments that still feel authentic to their community, and The Plank definitely does. It is a longtime Imperial Beach staple with personality, history, and a very loyal local following.
